The Shills got together around 1980. I was between bands, not doing anything musically, until I bought a four-track Teac tape recorder and started fooling around, making tapes by myself or with anyone else around.

Somehow, this evolved into recording silly versions of cheesy '60s and '70s songs. We had great fun for a few years, until time and circumstances conspired to put our less-than-million-selling career on hold...for now. Meanwhile, the Shills' recorded legacy is preserved for posterity on three not-available-in-stores CDs: The Shills Greatest Hits, Grasping at Crumbs and Below the Bottom of the Barrel.

Please note: over the years, other bands have called themselves "The Shills." We started calling ourselves "The Shills" around 1990, but didn't copyright the name. Oh well.
